Writing / Creating
Can Be a Healing Resource
Being an author, creator, and mentor is a fulfilling and multifaceted experience for me. I have published ten short stories about the human condition. My novel has been a journey in the making.
The manuscript has undergone developmental editing, involving multiple rounds of rewriting and revising.
My plan had been to submit my novel to my book consultant by June; however, in late May, I received a devastating medical diagnosis that demanded immediate attention, derailing my plans.
By October, another diagnosis came, which no one ever wants to hear. Instead of my original plan for submission instead on the days I could create for a while, I worked on three smaller projects.
Beyond this 100-Day Author’s Diary, I’ve produced three videos. They offer a behind-the-scenes look at my creative process, showcasing my storybook trailer and writing techniques with close-ups of my meticulously organized notes and visuals with my voice providing guidance. Each video offers clear, concise instructions with visual guidance for every step. Next, we will test these out with users to gather feedback, making improvements before the planned launch in February 2025. This diary shows my writing goals for 2025, as discussed with my editor in mid-December.
Though my treatments continue, this year has been a journey of unexpected strength and resilience; a winding road of adapting to my new life, each step forward a small victory against the odds.
I hope it inspires you to write and create.
My 100 Authors Project
I completed the 2024 100 Authors Journal and sent it at the end of December. This experience was a success; it advanced my journaling, adding art and fun doodles. See my pictures below.
Thank you to the American Diary Project and Olive Gaines for her guidance and expertise. It’s impressive how she managed all of us authors.
