As an Author/Storyteller, and Creator
I will share the human condition of life that people experience through my writing.
I will be a truth- teller, whose honest, and writes with integrity, connecting nature, legacies, and perspective of those ignored by society, marginalized, overlooked, and dismissed.
I will accept the perspective that not everyone can relate to or understand certain aspects of the human condition, but at least my writing provides them with insight.
I will not allow others to discount nor marginalize me as a writer because of my style, view, or color.
I will not pander or default my integrity, honesty, or character to satisfy someone else’s view or misinformation, demeaning words about me as a writer of color.
I will be a truth-teller from my view, honoring the traditions, my ancestors, and the foundations they instilled within me.
I will not embarrass my ancestors or the inherited legacies and traditions but will always stand una- shamed and firm on their shoulders, and walk proudly in my abilities and gifts as a storyteller.
