We are moving through the year. July is here and we are in the third quarter of 2025.

This month I’ve been busy with my novel. Though time-consuming, final edits are an unavoidable part of the authoring process.

I’ve had the pleasure of sharing chapter one of 26 chapters with two different editors. One who specializes in sensitivity and the other a retired editor from one of the big five publishing houses. Their comprehensive feedback and the time they spent on it were invaluable to me.

One thing I enjoy working in the creative space is the flexibility to meet others in similar venues. This month, when I am not wrapping up book one, I have created a project management model for a friend. Artistically, my first healing picture is almost done. I am hoping to share that by the end of the month. I am helping someone else with content.

While my health journey is ongoing, I am improving at accepting its difficulties and making the most of every day, even if that only involves rest. I continue to be grateful to the healthcare professionals whose knowledge and care help me.

I had an epiphany the other day. As a creative, my work is ninety percent of the time from home. My daily walks are in my neighborhood, so I’m very comfortable and familiar with the area. Determined to avoid yesterday’s overwhelming schedule, I approached this morning differently. A chai latte was on my mind, so I drove to get one after my walk. As I sat at a traffic light, I noticed the highway was bumper to bumper not moving at all, and I recalled my days of being one of those commuters. When I looked at the entrance ramp, I noticed an eighteen wheeler attempting to get onto the highway. Seeing it was odd, since only cars are allowed on that highway, not trucks.

A police officer was helping the truck driver to reverse and come off of the ramp. By this point, I placed my order at the drive up and waiting for the line to move towards the pickup window. The truck, the officer, and the cars struggling to merge onto the ramp made held my attention. At that moment, I realized how all of us operate from our own little corner of the world. We don’t have the privilege of seeing what others are experiencing in their part of the world. Only by coming together and sharing can we understand another person’s perspective. As I drove home with my Venti Chai drink, that thought stayed with me. I am grateful to have had that poignant moment as it has opened my eyes to understand others’ perspectives from their corner of the world differently. Isn’t it all about how we communicate?

Have a wonderful month. L’Michelle 🌸🦋
