This month continues to be a whirlwind of activity as I put the finishing touches on my submission packet for my editor. Countless hours have gone into ensuring perfection. It’s a process that demands my focus, but it’s also rewarding—especially when I reflect on what my initial drafts have grown into, an amazing story. Despite the snow-covered grounds and temperatures in the teens, I’m staying active.

As you know, if you’ve been on this journey with me for some time, I have a genuine passion for helping beginner writers find their unique creative spark. I’ve been transparent about my health journey, and journaling continues to be my foundation for building my legacy. My core approach, regardless of whether I’m guiding the students I tutor to write a polished essay, is storytelling.

I am honored to be invited as co-chair of the annual Oncologue Project Summit: Sharing Stories, Shaping Strength. Although I had initial concerns about the name, I recognize its impact. This forum brings together patients, survivors, caregivers, and medical professionals to share cancer experiences through monologues.

My role involves helping individuals craft their stories by guiding them in writing effective dialogue. As a curator, I’m looking forward to my future responsibilities of turning a curated set of stories into a coffee-table anthology. I hope that each narrative will act as a bridge, fostering connection, empathy, and resilience among people.

As I continue on my journey, my two goals this year remain to complete my manuscript. Then support others on their writing journeys.

I’m reminded daily that our stories have the power to heal, advocate, and unite us.
